Circular hollow sections or CHS, commonly referred to as circular steel tubes, are a popular and the most consistent variety of steel section that are used in an array of shapes and sizes across many sectors.
The equal distribution of section material about its polar axis is what gives CHS its structural effectiveness in resisting torsion, bending, and axial forces. The great strength to weight ratio that CHS provides results in lightweight and cost-effective construction. Due to its rounded edges and reduced surface area, CHS performs better in terms of corrosion than other open section elements. CHS are chosen in marine constructions because of their ability to lessen wave forces and because of their structural effectiveness.
